Situation
In a local charity, the morale of the co-directors
had reached a very low point and their relationship with many
of the trustees was very weak. Consequently, the effectiveness
of the directors was diminishing rapidly.
Solution
Having heard the issues from the Directors, Bridge Marketing
Partnership held conversations with key trustees to get their
views and opinions. Following this, it was agreed that Carole
Manship would facilitate a series of meetings of Directors
and key trustees, a group which came to be called The Management
Group for Change. Use of brainstorming, visioning and other
creative thinking exercises, as well as having the group clearly
define the objectives of these meetings, were built into these
meetings.
Result
The Management Group for Change gave formal recognition to
the professional growth of the organisation. There was a change
in feelings and attitudes among committee members to more
positive working relationships. An increase in the morale
of the Directors led them to work more productively with the
Trustees and staff. Since the exercise, one director has left
and the other has stepped up to be the sole director. The
Chair of the Trustees stated that the smooth transition which
had full support from the Trustees would not have happened
had it not been for the intervention from Bridge Marketing
Partnership.
