2012 Skills They Don't Teach on an MBA

As a professional, do you wonder how some people get ahead and others do not? Have you had goals you thought you would never achieve? We will help you answer these questions with stimulating sessions, designed to give you time to think, learn, develop and make valuable new contacts.

All the participants in 2011 set out their goals in January and in December were able to look back over a year of achievements, many of which they did not think possible at the start of the year.

The Elegant Sherbourne Priors

Our research shows that four key factors - not usually taught in academic settings - play a large part in the success of individuals.

Our programme will give you:

  • Time for you
Take time to think through your goals, develop your emotional resilience, work on ‘brand you’ and understand the strength that comes from positive psychology.

  • New ways of thinking
Learn new approaches to strategic and creative thinking and practise one of the underpinning parts of our programme: Nancy Kline's Time to Think.

  • Improved communication skills
Learn and practise techniques that will vastly improve your ability to get your message across to all your different audiences.

  • Enhanced interpersonal skills
Robert Burns wrote it would be a gift to see ourselves as others see us. This programme will be that gift to you as you understand yours and other people's behaviour and develop your influencing skills.

The format

We meet monthly at the elegant Sherbourne Priors, close to Warwick, from 8AM to 1PM, which will include breakfast and lunch prepared by a superb chef. Members will have a chance to develop the four key areas outlined above, working with experts in their fields, successful business owners, motivational speakers, creative thinkers including the Poet Laureate of Birmingham (2010-2011). In between meetings, there is a 1:1 session with programme director, Carole Manship, to ensure that your individual requirements are being met.
