Have You Considered Joining a Mastermind Group?
“No two minds ever come together
without thereby creating a third,
in visible intangible force, which
may be likened to a third mind.”
Napoleon Hill

What is a mastermind group?
A Mastermind Group is not
about sitting in a chair facing
rapid fire questions about your
specialised subject or your recall
of general knowledge. It's about
coming together with other
people who have something in
common with you and willing
and wanting to work together -
either towards your particular
goal - or each member helping
everyone else in the group reach
their individual goals.
Using a Mastermind Group was
advised by Napoleon Hill three
quarters of a century ago. Hill
had started his own career as a
reporter and in 1908, he had an
assignment to interview the very
successful industrialist, Andrew
Carnegie. Not only did Carnegie
impress Hill, but Hill impressed
Carnegie and the meeting
eventually led to Hill's research
on behalf of Carnegie to
interview 500 successful, well
known people of the time to find
out their formula for success and
if there was a universal formula.
Much of what Hill learned was
later published in one of the best
selling business books of all time:
Think and Grow Rich. And one of
the key points to come out of the
study was the importance of
having a mastermind group,
because, as in the quote on the left, it
harnesses the power of more than
one brain applied to your
business.
What happens when well meaning folk come together with
a common purpose?
Energy, commitment, enjoyment
and new ideas! Participants help
each other by pushing each
other's thinking and challenging
assumptions, encouraging each
other to create and implement
goals, brainstorm ideas, and
support each other in an
atmosphere of respect and
confidentiality. If you're in
business, your Mastermind
Group is like having an objective
board of directors.
Do you have the desire and inspiration to make this
year extraordinary?
There are many benefits in being
part of a mastermind group:
- A group of people working to
help you succeed.
- Receiving differing
perspectives, input and
feedback.
- Resources and connections you
might not have had on your
own.
- Accountability to the group
and inspiration from the group.
- A regular focus on your goals.
If you are the owner/manager of
a business and the idea of a
mastermind group appeals to you,
two pieces of news may please
you. There's a new group called
Directors Together, meeting half
a day on a monthly basis at the
MAC in Cannon Hill Park with
two places remaining. And there
is currently funding for small
businesses (from 2 employees up
to 249) for initiatives like this. If
